    The Fire Prevention Bureau is a public service agency which provides public services to protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents, communities, businesses, and visitors through inspections, code enforcement, fire investigations and education.

    Virginia Beach Fire Marshals are assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau and are tasked with inspecting all businesses and investigating all fires for origin and cause. Community Risk Reduction education is accomplished through our Inspections, Investigations and Life Safety Divisions. 

    They also work with other local, state, and federal agencies to accomplish their mission to keep the public safe.
